Biography

Name is Jim and have been a ham for many years holding the N8JE call now sense 1997. I have a VARA HF Winlink RMS gateway on 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters that I can have up and running in a few seconds. I also run a VHF RMS gateway for local using VARA FM (N8JE-10) on 145.030. If you have any comments on my gateways, please drop me an email at n8je@roadrunner.com.

Home HF station is a Kenwood TS-480 HX with a Heathkit SB-200 amp. The tuner is a LDG AT-1000 Pro2. Soundcard interface is a Masters Communications DRA-100. HF antennas are Gap Titan DX, End Fed Halfwave and a OCF dipole. The HF gateway station consists of a Yaesu FT-857D, LDG YT-100 tuner, soundcard interface is a Masters Communications DRA-100.

The VHF-UHF equipment consists of a Kenwood TM-D710G and Icom IC-2820 with D-Star. The antennas are a Hustler G6270R duel-band at 45', diamond X-50N at 35’, an old Cushcraft AR-270 at 10’ and another diamond X-50 at 20 ‘for local repeater use.

VHF Gateway consists of an old Kenwood TM V707A Duel-band radio, Masters Communications DRA-50 (Masters Communications) soundcard interface, HP mini desktop with I-5 processor. I still enjoy some CW, rag chewing and contesting when I have the time
