Biography

2025 Station Pictures. Jane N5ZXO and I put up a new Diex 3-30 antenna for this years DX season and participated in the Texas QSO party. To all our good friends and radio operators that we have met on air and in person over the decades, 73.

Our station was featured on the radio and television news back in July 2025 when Jane and I reported on the disaster that hit our home towns of Hunt, Ingram, and Kerrville Texas.

Jane and I have operated on APRS since early on and have enjoyed the packet radio technology. In the 1990s we traveled around and operated both 30 meter and 2 meter APRS. Now our station supports a local digipeater and sometimes I monitor the space station, NO-44, Sonate-2, and other space based digipeaters.

Audio from each radio is wired into the mixer board where it can be set to Left/Right/Center and plays on the sounds system featuring 3 different kinds of speakers for full sounding signals.

Each of the trancievers are wired to a switchbox to allow for common PTT foot and desk switch along with the studio microphone. The CW keyer is also switched this way.

The patch panel has evolved over the years. It now supports Hydra and RTL-SDR radios that I use for scanning and panadapters. Connected to the HF and Satellite radios the SDR gives me a 2nd radio that can be monitored on the computers.

The antenna farm has evolved and we put up our first Tri-Band Antenna so now the tower supports 40, 30, 17, and 12 meters. On our web page you will find the details and engineering of the tower project.

See trolinger.com as it is my home page. I am sometimes on ham call dot net and eham dot net.
