Biography

I started as a Novice in 1978 but couldn't get the code level up to par. I later erupted in 2000 as a Tech and was active in my area until the "job" got really big. I just got so busy that I let Ham time slide until I lapsed. I missed my two year window to renew. So, about a year and a half ago, I decided to get back in and to do so with no less than my General. I'm so glad I did. I really love the hobby.
I'm a lifelong minister (Baptist)). I currently pastor a wonderful church in Mississippi near Oxford, the home of the Ole Miss Rebels.
I also was a 43 year vet of the Commercial radio industry, both secular and religious. I started on an old 500 watt, AM daytime only directinonal station in south MS. I guess that's why I like AM so much.
And I am an 18 year retired law enforcement officer as well. Most of my time spent as a Deputy Sheriff.
I guess you could say I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. But I've had a wonderful time.
I'm married to my wife of 48 years, Pat. We have two grown daughters and 5 wonderful grandkids with one more on the way.
Happy to be a part of the QRZ-CQ family.

Equipment

My main radio is the IC 7300 and I also have a Yeas FT 991-A. I love them both. Various other rigs and the like are in the truck and on the shelf in the shack. I operate barefoot always, and do so off of an 18 foot vertical, 1 35 foot high G5RV and an end fed long wire of 63 feet.
