Biography
My friends all call me RC, so I hope you will too.
I am very happily married to my lovely wife of 40+ years, Tana (formerly N5TDC).
I was first liscensed in 1989 as a Novice (KB5JDW), I quickly upgraded to Technician Plus and was assigned the Call Sign N5ORO.
Tana & I let our tickets lapse. Upon retesting; I was assigned the Call Sign KI5ELM, which I held for about Fourteen days before upgrading to Amateur Extra Class and requesting my original 1x3 Call Sign, N5ORO. Yes, I'm now a 'slow code' Extra wink.
Feel free to stop by any of the following Frequencies / Nets:
You can usually find me each morning with the local bunch 3873 Kc. Irregulars mornings at 0800 CT Monday-Saturday. We take the Lord's day off for a reason.
On 7.150 MHz
On 18.140 MHz
Or most likely on the Awful, Awful Ugly Net on 3.855 Mhz @ 8:00 pm CT. AAU Net is a G-Rated, Christian Comradery Net that has met 365 days a year for over 30 years, and Everyone is welcome to check in.
In my spare time, I enjoy serving as an ARRL Liaison & Team Lead for our local Volunteer Examiner Team (In person sessions 3rd Tuesday evening of every month at 7 PM local).
Also, very soon, I'm hoping that we can begin Teaching new license & license upgrade classes. There is no reward better than teaching when you can see "the Light come on" in the countenance
of a student!
I also love designing, building and experimenting with "Homebrew" antennas, or, just about any equipment you might find in the shack.
I hope to chat with you somewhere on the bands sometime.
On a more personal note:
I worked my way through College as a Heavy Construction Inspector & Youth Pastor. Attending Arlington Baptist University (where I later served as an Adjunct Professor of Soteriology). & Liberty Univeristy.
Before my health adventures began, and forced me into early retirement; I had the honor of serving as Sr. Pastor at a local Church. God blessed and we saw explosive growth. From an average attendance of 37 to over 400 during my tenure. I'm happy to report that the Church is alive and doing well. I was only there for a decade, but overall, I have spent 36 + years in active Ministry.
I have continued my Ministy through R.C. Wetzel Ministries, Teaching Videos.

UPDATE On my Health Adventures:
I just recently saw my Oncologist for my check up. She used a word I've never heard an Oncologist use before: "Cured". I only have to see her once a year from here on out. No annual CT Scans or anything. I could write a book on how the LORD Jesus Christ worked through all this over the past eight years. My health may have been diminished...but my Faith has never been stronger. If I can trust God with my eternal soul, it's only a small thing to trust Him with my physical body. That was the lesson that I learned...and...it was worth it all.
My best piece of advice; whatever trial you may be going through is this: Look For the Lesson!
If you, or a loved one, is going through a health crisis...then it is my hope that this short testimonial will be encouraging.
BTW: My super hero is Jesus Christ!
Thanks for looking me up! And remember to keep looking up: Maranatha!! **
** Just in case you didn't know, Maranatha is an Aramaic interjection meaning "O Lord, come": used in the Bible only once as an invocation in I Corinthians 16:22.
