Biography

Born George Albert Hancock on 29/May/1941 in Cleveland, Mississippi. Graduaded from Cleveland High School, Delta State University, Jackson State University with 30 hours post graduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi. Majored in music education and secondary education. Now retired, I was a high school band director for 28 years.

I am married to the former Mary Ann Little of Grenada Mississippi. We have four children, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. My son, George Jr. is licensed as K5GAH.

First licensed as KN5HPV in 1956, I enjoyed 20 meter CW and 80 meter AM during my teenage years. College and making a living took me away from ham radio. I re-entered the hobby in 1985 licensed as N5LBU, AA5CI and now N5GH.

I enjoy working DX and calling the Magnolia Section Phone Net on Monday morning at 12:00z on 3.862.5 MHz. I have DXCC on 10-12-15-17-20-30-40-80 and 160 meters. I have confirmed 340 active entities (Honor Roll: Mixed, Phone and CW) for a total of 343/340. My current DXCC Challenge total is 2467. I have 5 Band WAS (#2754), WAS on 160 (#757), 5 Band WAZ (#1435), 160 WAZ (#218) and QRP DXCC.

I am a member of the 599 DX ASSOCIATION.

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
