My name is Brandon Currin also known as CURRIN1776. I live in Portal, GEORGIA USA. New to Amateur Radio. I received my Callsign in June, 2020. Looking forward to learning the hobby. Live on a Homestead and enjoy the outdoors. Hunting, Fishing, Prepping, Homesteading, etc. Some call me a Survivalist. I fit that bill pretty well. I was a Chiller Mechanic for 24 years in my home State of NC. Now I reside in GA and work for BattlBox, a survival and adventure subscription box service. Active on YouTube with my channel CURRIN1776 and BATTLBOX Channel. You can find me on Social media if you are into that. FB IG YT etc. Just search CURRIN1776 or BATTLBOX and you will find me. So, all in all, I'm a country boy that enjoys getting dirty and working with my hands. If it is broken mechanically or electrically odds are I can fix it. lol, I have been married for 19 years and have 3 teenage children. (oh and 2 goats, miniature donkey, potbelly pig, 2 rabbits, 2 dogs, 3 cats and a bunch of chickens... Needless to say, my hands are full)

You can also watch what I do on the HIT Netflix Original Series, SOUTHERN SURVIVAL. Check it out! http://www.netflix.com/southernsurvival

Active with Southeast District Amateur Radio Emergency Services (Georgia AuxComm/ARES) TRGA Love this group of Amateurs. Everyone is willing to help however they can with the Community and extend their knowledge of radio.

Enjoy Hunting POTA Stations.

Did my first POTA Activation with my Elmer KN4ADM on 11-14-2020 at George L. Smith State Park in GA

Fortunate to have an Elmer that really wants to further my journey in Amateur Radio. He has allowed me to borrow a radio set up of his until I can get my own setup. We put an End Fed wire from a second-story window to a Southern Yellow pine about 50-60' up. Running an iCOM IC-718 powered by an ASTRON RS-20M. Tuning with an MFJ-945E Tuner.

-UPDATE- 11-19-20 - Just swapped out my Mobile IC-7100 rig to an ID-5100. Adding my 7100 and an MFJ-993B Intellituner to the Temporary Shack mix I mentioned above and pictured below. I will be building out a Portable rig setup with the 7100 for POTA work. I've really been enjoying POTA. Looking forward to seeing how the 7100 works out for that.

-UPDATE- 11-29-20 - Well I got a heck of a deal on an IC-7300 with an LDG IT-100 tuner and an ICOM SM-30 Desk Mic. So now I am set. The IC-7100 is now my portable rig with the LDG tuner for POTA. The ID-5100A for mobile operations. The IC-7300 is now my home base "Shack" HF rig with the MFJ-993B Tuner and End Fed Wire. So happy to have a 7300. I think it is awesome. Made several contacts with it as soon as I got it home and set up. Looking forward to many hours of fun on the air.
