Biography

I was first licensed in 1994 at the age of 14 (Tech Plus).    I got out of the hobby for a while, but returned in the early 2000's to get my Extra ticket.   I have been a VE with ARRL-VEC since about 2003, and have been involved with various public service events, clubs, and ARES organizations throughout the years.    I'm a physicist by profession.

I am currently the president of the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Radio Club (http://www.marc-radio.org).  MARC holds monthly meetings (which can be viewed on YouTube), quarterly VE sessions, public service communications, Scouts merit badge sessions and other outreach/educational activities, several on-air club operating events, and sponsors the Valley Forge Hamfest in Kimberton, PA each ~August.

I'm originally from New York City, and then lived in Canada for a few years, and in 2011 settled into the Philadelphia area.   Apartment living isn't conducive to operating HF, but I operate VHF/UHF home and mobile, and occasionally get on HF (mostly FT8 lately), operate portable QRP, or operate the FM birds.

Equipment

VHF/UHF home / satellite setup:  Yaesu FT-8900R for 2m / 440; BTECH UV-25X4 for 220 MHz.

Mobile VHF/UHF: Yaesu FT-7900R for 2m / 440

HTs: Yaesu VX-7R, Yaesu VX-6R, TYT MD-380, Baofeng UV-5R

HF / portable: Elecraft KX2
