Biography

Thank you for checking out my profile here. I was licensed in April of 1991. Back in 1978 when I was 8 years old, I enjoyed listening to my father's tube Hallicrafters S-38 receiver. My father, N2NCO, passed away in January of 2015. God Bless Him.

In the mid 80's, I modified my Uniden Washington 11 Meter chicken band radio so that I could listen to 10 Meters. One thing led to another as mentioned below.

I own and operate a commercial Two-Way radio communications company. I began Masterpage, Inc. in 1996. We service everyone who requires any type of two-way radio communications.

Please visit us at https://www.facebook.com/masterpagecommunications for further information.

In the past 30 plus years, I have enjoyed modifying commercial two-way radio equipment for 2 Meters, 6 Meters and 70 CM use, during my very little spare time that is, and building home brew repeater systems for my company and amateur radio.

I want to mention my friend, Alex, KQ2H. We had a blast modifying commercial radios and working on his repeater system together back in the 90's. Check out his world famous 10 Meter repeater on 29.620.

I also enjoy the magic and mysterious 6 meter band, especially the FM band openings the most! What impressed me years ago, was back on July 6th of 1998, when I held a nice few minute conversation with WA7NNP, Bill, on 52.525 FM with my 6 Watt Motorola MT1000 portable from my location. My 6 Meter Base antenna is a home brew 1/4 wave ground plane that I made in 1991.

When I am in the shop, shack and on the road to and from service calls, I scan 52.525, 146.520 and 446.000 calling frequencies.

My primary 2 Meter, 6 Meter and 70 CM equipment consists of Motorola Syntor X9000's, Motorola Maratrac's, Motorola Maxtrac's, Motorola MT1000's, Motorola P200's, Motorola HT750's, Motorola HT1550's, Kenwood NX-5700's, Kenwood NX-3720's, Kenwood TK-7180's, Kenwood TK-8180's, Kenwood TK-2180's, Kenwood TK-3180's and more. Lol

Also, as a commercial radio guy, I hate to admit it but I proudly own an ICOM IC-756PROII Rice Box radio which I have had since they were first introduced. LOL. I will never get rid of this radio. Without getting technical, this old Rice Box has one of the best receivers on AM when the filters are properly set up.

Even though I deal with very little DMR, since most of my public safety clients are operating analog, I am also an old school fan of analog FM. That's why this hobby is so great. Many modes of operation to please everyone. When time permits, I will play with the good old AM tube Boat Anchors.
