| Biography No biography data yet Equipment Icom IC-706MKIIG - My primary radio for many years now. Icom made a real winner with this one.
Ten-Tec Scout 555 - I have always wanted one of these radio. I don't uses it all that much, I do enjoy this radio. Good audio and good receive.
Yaesu FT-817ND with the LDG Z-817 was added to my collection of gear in the beginning of May 2014
I build my own antennas. Primary antenna is a multi band dipole built off of a W2AU 1:1 balun. Three separate dipoles for 80m, 20m and 10m. Works great on 17m and 12m. Its about 15 years old. I have had to replace the element wires several times due to age or snow/ice.
I also have a 40m dipole that works great on 15m.
I built a 160m half sloper. What a great antenna. Works well on 40m also and ok on 30m.
Dec 2012 I put up a multi-band Loop antenna that has been excellent for me. Low noise floor with this antenna. The loops are parallel to the ground. About 25' - 30' above the ground. I have separate wires for 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m & 12m. It is all fed with a W2AU 4:1 balun.
Fall of 2013 I put up a 3 element quad for 2m and a 6m Moxon both made of PVC that work great.
I have some other ideas I'm working on. I will post as I put them up. |
