Biography

I have only been licensed for a couple years now. I sat for both the Tech and Gen on the same day after a short study. I am hoping to get my extra this summer. I have used mostly VHF within the fire service for 25+ years. Ham was always the interest just never tested for it. Now I need more bandwidth ...

Equipment

Currently running a Yaesu FTDX10 for my fixed station rig. I have 20m & 40m hanging at 40' for my HF. Also a 2m on top for SDR listening. All antennas I run are home made and hand tuned. Just running 100w and wires for now, I do have a Heathkit SB-200 that will rebuilt in the coming months. Not sure what the final yield will be for output yet but should be a nice step up from 100w for my first amp. I also am set up for 20m & 40m HF and VHF/UHF for mobile with a 100w FT857D. Not the best setup but it does make it out on HF fairly well. HF digital mobile runs nicely with my /m rig. I cheat and park on top of Cadillac mountain (@1530ft) and have run computer driven CW, RTTY, and FT-8. Have worked most of Europe and SA with it.
