Biography

As a youngster I developed a keen interest in radio and electronics a curiosity that still interests me today. My First experience with transmitting was using C.B and discovered Amateur Radio a little later in the 80’s. Work life then later became a priority and 35 years passed by travelling around the U.K & Europe as a lorry driver, 2020 suddenly arrived when we had the sad news in the U.K of Covid-19 Lockdown. Fortunately, this gave me a golden opportunity of time to pursue my interest in Amateur Radio and started to study with BBDL (Bath-Based-Distance-Learning) That provides professionally delivered courses by Steve Hartley (G0FUW) with dedicated tutors all for free by volunteers! My main interest is operating on various modes and can be heard on vhf/uhf/digital modes including the South-West-Cluster (https://gb7bs.com/southwest-cluster-coverage-map/swc-dashboards.html) on DMR. I enjoy experimenting building my own antennas, due to local QRM at my home QTH I enjoy operating on one of the Mountains in Wales when I can. My typical working station is: Yeasu FTDX10-Icom IC-7300-Antyone 578 & 878, I also have an interest in using a Euronode ( https://www.dvmega.nl/euronode/ ) Raspberry Pi’s for WPSD ( https://w0chp.radio/wpsd/) and scanning with a RTL SDR Dongle using https://www.openwebrx.de/

Hope to catch you on the air!
