Biography

Transceiver:

Icom 7300

Antenna: 6m long vertical ground mounted antenna.

I am very limited at my QTH on the size and type of antennas I can use. A big thank you therefore to the efforts of those patient amateurs who work hard and struggle to pull my weak signal out from the noise.

I`m enjoying operating FT8 and FT4 with Icom 7300, typical power 50 watts or less.

I was a SWL in my teenage years then due to business and family life I didn`t have have the time to pursue the hobby. I studied the radio exams when I had more time in later life.

Foundation licence, May 2014 - December 2014 : M6ENA power 10 watts only

Intermediate licence, December 2014 - June 2015 : 2E0DHM power 50 watts only

Advanced licence, June 2015 - M0HWO

To celebrate HM Queen Platinum Jubilee I operated using the callsign M0HWO/70 during June 2022, meeting my personal target to achieve 700 contacts - 10 contacts for every year of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2 reign. Thank you for the contacts and I hope that my contact has helped those amateurs who wanted the RSGB Queen Jubilee Award.

During the period 1/05/2023 - 30/06/2023 I used the callsign MR0HWO to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. I operated FT8 and FT4. My personal target was to reach 2023 contacts to recognise the year of the Coronation and I am pleased to say that the target was achieved on 21/06/2023. Thank you to all who contacted me to help me achieve my goal and I hope that I have helped you to obtain the RSGB Coronation certificate if that is what you were hoping to achieve.

At the moment I`m trying to read morse code, which is a challenge at my age. I`ve decided to attempt to learn to read cw at 20wpm rather than start at a lower speed - it`s not quite as undecipherable as it was!!!! Much, much more practice is needed! I think it is going to be a very long time, even if I am able to read cw comfortably, before I have the courage to even think about trying an "on air" cw QSO. I might just be content to listen to the experts, if they aren`t sending too fast smiley. Operating using callsign MR0HWO between 1/5/2023 - 30/6/2023 to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
Please refer to the attached link to the RSGB website about awards

I set myself a target of 2023 contacts to celebrate the Coronation and I`m pleased to say that the target was achieved on 21/06/2023. Thank you to all amateurs who helped me to reach my target. If you are working towards the RSGB Award I hope that I have helped you to achieve success.

Thanks for QSOs and 73 .
