Biography

Hello my name is Lawrence .
I have been a swl for several years and a foundation licence holder from march 2012 .

I do intend to take my intermediate and full licence in time.

I am however finding the 10 watts exciting and very enjoyable and i am so amazed how far i can get with it i almost done cartwheels the first time i talked to america it was such a buzz.

However the next step will take sometime as unfortunately due to an attack & assault which happened to me as a bus driver back in 1995 the resulting head injury gave me epilepsy which for the first seven years the siezures could not be controlled , as a result i have a very bad memory and find retaining information hard so the intermediate maybe sometime off also please forgive me if i ask for your callsign twice as i sometimes forget the second half by the time i write down the first half .
I find the whole spectrum of this hobby facinating from talking on 2 metres or 70cms repeaters to all bands from 80 to 6 metres no antenna yet for top band.
Being new to this i have flung myself into learning as much as i can on constructing my own antennas this is giving me great satisfaction at the moment.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

My shack at this time is as follows.
For hf and 6 metres i am using a Elecraft KX3 and an ocf dipole in inverted v format at 35 feet, and if required a mfj-941e tuner ,standard microphone, also a Heil proset 6 headset for when the grand kids are around.

For hf and 6 metres mobile and qrp use( and 2nd base ) i have an ft817 +z817 tuner and chamelion v2L antenna or ranger 9 on a triple mag mount and assorted single band antenna for static use and a 7ah battery.

For homebase 2 metres +ssb i have an Icom IC-211 a great old rig plus a home made dipole antenna.
for 10 mtr monitoring i have a crt ss6900 which is for use with a dedicated dipole on roof.

Handhelds i have a wouxun KG-679E 2metre and a BAOFENG uv-4r for 2m+70cm & a hltv88 70cm handheld,I also use an Icom IC-E92D for Dstar
thanks for looking at my page and i hope to work you soon .
