Biography

An avid fan of Short Wave Amateur Radio Listening have been listening for many many years and enjoy picking up all types of Ham Radio chatter on all modes.

Have been messing around with radio's since 1976 after been given an old home-brew SWR which you had to unplug coils to get on different bands by a member of the Clifton Amateur Radio Society G3GHN Which used to be located at New Cross Gate in South London

I have had several radio's over the years Realistic DX-390 for HF Frequencies I also purchased a YUPITERU MVT-7100 for HF and VHF/UHF but the one I use most to receive on HF is the KENWOOD TS-870S I use this to monitor HF Ham bands and other commercial traffic, but do use it on the 11Mtr bands defined by Ofcom here in the UK which are licence free

I also use a SDRplay Radio Spectrum Processor - RSP2 1KHz → 2GHz in conjunction with the Kenwood TS-870 as a pan-adaptor. the whole process is controlled by SDR Console V3 and omnirig so that i can view the radio spectrum for a certain band and also control the rig from the computer screen.

Antenna is Sandpiper MV5 6m to 160m mounted on pole and a 40ft wire that acts as the radial mounted 12ft high which gives good performance over the entire band when conditions allow. Roll on sun spot maximum..

I also use a Silver Rod 5/8th Wave vertical antenna for the 11Mtr band but is also an excellent receive antenna for the hf band.

I also use various software packages to receive CW, RTTY, PSK, SSTV and other Digi modes
