Biography

As an electronic engineer I have been interested in radio for many years, but never got into amateur radio. During the covid lockdown I took my old CB radio from the loft and was surprised to find several operators in my village. Having spoken to one of them, I was encouraged to look into doing the course. I did the online course, courtesy of Essex Ham and took my test on Friday 3rd July 2020, which I passed with flying colours. On Tuesday 7th July my certificate arrived and I registered for my licence and operated as M7SDD.

My first ever amateur contact, as a licenced operator was with M1APC James, who has actively encouraged me along this road, along with his neighbour M0NMC, who I managed to work while he was Maritime Mobile in Brazil. I was using only 10 Watts on 14.275 Mhz.

On 26th August 2020 I took my intermediate exam, which I passed, so I now continue on my amateur journey with a little more power to play with.
