Biography

I'm 68 years old, and finally got my foundation ticket. only 50 years to late but Hey Ho.
I have been a swl for many years, on retirement i thought id better go for it, im currently studying for my intermeadate ticket, fingers crosed.im fasinated by HF propergation and how it effects communications. I also have a keen interest in antenna building as a concquence my back garden looks like an antenna farm.

Equipment

Having just got involved, in amateur radio broadcasting my gear list is very limited. I generally listen off Sdr's around the world. as I write this I'm shopping for an Hf rig, im not rushing to be sure that i find the right rig.

Ok so I'm 6 or 7 month's in to my hobby and I'm still looking for an HF rig. I'm looked at old tech not new made in china cheap stuff. I'm thinking along the lines of a Yaesu FT101 or the like. Most of the units I've seen are Junk. I understand that they're old, and yes I'm more than capable of repairing one, it's the price of them... £400.00 for some thing that doesn't even work. no thank you!!! I'll persevere. I will find one, sooner or later.
