Biography

Hi there...my name is James and was born and raised in Cornwall in 1954, my current QTH is in Beacon near Camborne, and I am a true Cornishman.
I have been an Amateur Radio Foundation licence holder (M6)since January 2011 and thoroughly enjoy the hobby. I mainly work HF on the 10,12,15,and 17 metre bands but occasionally 20 and 40 metres,and now active on 6 metres, I enjoy a bit of DX and you will find me on there most days calling CQ and trying to make a contact from my shack in the garage, I must admit it is a struggle but when someone does comes back to me it more than makes up for it.

For HF...Yaesu FT 897D and Kenwood TS 570SGE transceivers, Yaesu SP8 external speaker, MFJ 993B ATU, BHI NEIM 1031 noise eliminating module(DSP on the 897 not sufficient enough) and use the bulk standard mic.
BHI noise cancelling Desktop speaker used with the Kenwood TS 570SGE tranciever.
For VHF/UHF...Kenwood TM-G707 FM Duel Bander, I have one in the shack and one for mobile work in the car.
Anytone AT5189 times two for the 4 metre band...one in the shack and one in the car for mobile work.
Yaesu FT 270E (VHF only) handheld.
Yaesu FT290 multi mode portable tranceiver.
Wouxun KG-UV6D...handheld for 2 and 4 metres.

Antenna`s...For HF...Imax 2000 vertical for 17,15,12 and 10 metre bands,
20 metre ZEP...stand alone...end fed wire antenna for the 20 metre band.
Vertical aluminium dipole for the 4 metre band.
Diamond X-300N vertical...for VHF/UHF.
Sirio Tornado 50/60 vertical for the 6 metre band.
Sirio...High Performance 2070H mobile antenna...VHF 2/70.
Watson W-770HB...mobile antenna...VHF 2/70.
