Biography

Hello and thanks for looking me up, My name is Paul and I live in the small market town of Daventry which lies more or less in the centre of England.

Daventry Borough Hill site has long been associated with radio transmission since the 1920's as the site for the Empire radio station, transmitting most BBC long, medium, and short wave programs including the BBC World service broadcasts, the site is also famous for its contribution towards the birth of Radar, sadly the site no longer broadcasts to the world having been closed down in 1992, all of the masts bar one were demolished this lone mast now stands as a reminder of it's once proud past and is used for telephone and data links.

The area now a country park belongs to the local council, it is also my preferred operating venue as I am unable to have HF antennas at my home qth, when the weather is fair I setup my fishing pole vertical and a Sotabeams 20/40m dipole with a Yaesu FT817 radio on a park bench, if it's cold or wet I sit in the car and enjoy whatever qrp contacts I can make. I am a bit of a latecomer to amateur radio having passed my UK Foundation exam in April 2012 at the age of 63, should have done it a long time ago but no matter I will keep going until I get my full licence.

Best Regards.

Paul - M6WAX.
