Biography

David Sampson

Original callsign given 2E1GXF then graduated to Class B license M1DOZ.
(Regrettably I tried and failed the Morse route)
Have worked and joined local radio clubs in the Essex area of the UK, including DHARS, CARS, VANGE and ERG.
Now chairman of the Essex Repeater Group with a plan to grow the Essex network of Repeaters and Gateway in Mid-Essex.

Hobbies - Keen fisherman (Angler), Rubbish Golfer, Westham Supporter and Season ticket holder for many years, motorcycle rider (Harley Davidson Owner), Licensed Rifle and Gun Club membership with various marksman awards.

Working Career - I have spent a career in the world of Insurance (and Reinsurance); operating as a Lloyd's FI broker in the London Market for many years, as well as working in the Bermuda Insurance Market for many years.

Equipment

Started with AM CBs in the 70s and then moved into the Amateur Radio world in the 80s.
Started as a novice with a novice callsign (2E1GXF) and progressed to a B license in the 1990s (M1DOZ). When the Morse Requirement was dropped the A and B licenses became combined as one level in the UK.
Started CB with a Stalker XV and a Superstar after donating many mobile CBs to the local authorities. The moved on to Amateur Radio equipment with purchased of an Icom 756 from W&S and a FT-747GX from EARS (Alan).

Current Equipment consists of many radios including: Icom IC-7700 with an Acom2000a and an XR6 for HF; IC-7300 for FT8; Ft-991A for Fusion: IC-9700 for Dstar; Various Radios for HF and VHF and a IC-7610 connected to a Expert 1KA / Hustler Vertical Antennae for European low skip.

Gateways - Operating a Fusion / Wires X gateway in Essex on 433.66250 (MB6IMD); Uiview / APRS on 144.800 (MB7UWM) and DSTAR Gateway on 144.8750 (MB6MD)
