Biography

Hi my name is Daz, (short for Daryl). I live in the Sherwood forest region of the united kingdom, in the county/province of Nottinghamshire. about 5 miles n/e of Mansfield.

I am married to Caroline ( 2E0CAS ), and we have 3 children, who are also all licensed amateurs. They are Daniel ( M3DSZ ), Ricky ( M3DSY ), & Becky ( 2E0BEK ). I do not work anymore due to a spinal degenerative disorder, but try to remain active and keep up a positive attitude.

Due to my illness i found that i had a lot of time on my hands and also that my brain was turning to jelly, so i began the search to find an hobby to stimulate and occupy myself with.

I had been into cb radio when it was made legal in the uk(1981), but over the years, due mainly to bringing up a family lost touch with it, but not the friends i made through cb radio.

It was one of these friends, who over the years had progressed to being an amateur, invited me round to his shack, to see & hear him operate on the bands in different modes, THE BUG CAME BACK WITH A VENGEANCE.

I studied at the South Normanton and district amateur radio society, and acquired the foundation call sign M3DKS. I studied after this for the full license, which i gained 1st Jan 2003 as MOTTY.

I am currently into all things ham related, and also into building and repairing pc computers.
