Biography

The name is RIK and I'm very much a novice radio Ham based in the South West of the UK. I passed my UK Foundation license in October 2022, the Intermediate in April 2023 and the Full in December 2023.

Giving where I live, with no real garden space, working HF from home has proved to be less than brilliant, although I have given it a go, and in fact since my last update I've got some new radios, experimented with building some new antenna and generally I'm getting out there on FT8 as well as Allstar and DMR.

Where you can find me:

On mastodon.radio - @M0RKM@mastodon.radio

On BrandMeister DMR in the ICQ podcast talk group (9480) or the UKCHAT3 talkgroup (2353)

Areas of interest:

FT8 – Moving forward with this one.

SSTV – using the tr(u)SDX I have again managed to successfully get YONIQ to communicate with the radio but I have yet to test this on air.

CW - after acquiring a Quansheng UV-K5 and loading the IJV Firmware onto it, I have been experimenting with CW on 2m. This means I can join in with the local 2m slow morse net.

VARA-FM – getting this to work with a digirig has been good but I need something with a bit more poke than the UV5R.

3D Printing - I've designed and printed a number of tools to help me with hobby, all of which can be found on my Printables page - https://www.printables.com/@RikKershawMoo_308186

So if you do see me, do say hi.

Rik
