Biography

Thank you for visiting!

I was a CBer back in the 1980's and a Short Wave Listener for many years after.  I finally decided to get my amateur licence in 2018:

July 2018 - M6WVZ (Foundation Licence)
Sept 2018 - 2E0WVY (Intermediate Licence)
March 2021 - M0PMO (Full Licence)

I mainly work FT8 digital mode on 40m, 30m & 20m using WSJT-X.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

Transceivers:

Icom IC-7300 (Main HF radio)
Icom IC-7100 (Main VHF/UHF radio)
Icom IC-7000 (Backup radio)
(Currently toying with the idea of getting an IC-9700 for VHF/UHF and using IC-7100 for mobile use)
Transmitter:

WSPRLITE SB (I use this to test my antennas).
Receivers:

AOR AR2800 (old, but works well for airband listening)
Icom IC-PCR1000 (one of the first computer only controlled receivers, old but still works OK)
SDRPlay RSP2pro (mainly used as a panadaptor for IC-7300 & IC-7100)
Antennas VHF/UHF:

Diamond X-510N (mounted on 6m pole in garden)
Dual PA144-433-17-2A Yagi on a rotator (attic) - not ideal, but planning permission in my local area has forced me to use the attic
Diamond D130J Super Discone (in attic) - this can transmit on 2m and 70cm, if required
Looking to buy dual band Moxon for 4m and 6m band
HF (10m to 80m)

My Spider Beam Pole supports a homemade antenna:

Vertical delta loop (30m x 2mm copper wire loop), using an ICOM AH-4 ATU for tuning
Working on an end fed long wire antenna and using the IC-7300 ATU for tuning
