bin an avid SWL from about 14 ( thanks to Wally G4NBF Royal Signals ,now SK) ,took first level of my licence (M6OQU) in 2018 when i was 54 !! took my second level in 2019 (2E0OQU) now got my full callsign of M0OQU in December 2021 thanks to Club members help , still an avid SWL ,member and vice chairman of local radio club B.R.A.T.S in Bredhurst Kent , married for over 30 years and going strong.....


I work most of the bands and love the nets on 80m for a good old rag chew hi hi and DX on any band i can ..

Equipment

set up here is (at the moment hi hi ) Kenwood TS 590sg for HF, Yaesu FT 991 for VHF/UHF, Kenwood ts 450s, , MJF 939 auto tuner ,comet cat 300 and weltz AC 38m manual tuners ,kenwood sp-230 filtered speaker ,uniden ubc370xlt scanner ...and a vintage KW 2000A linked to a BHI digital speaker.

For garden/portable ops i use an Yaesu ft891 in a go box and a baofung 2/70 handie

Antennas are .....for HF , HF Western 10 N/S ,CG-3000 auto atu with a 75ft wire attached, mag loop for 40 to 6m ,Hustler 8BVT vertical mutli band for DX (yes 8), for vhf/uhf and air a diamond x50 ,comet gp1 ( both dual band colinears ),a 6m dipole ..all fitted into a 40ftx 50ft back garden
