Biography

Hello. The name here is Steve I live 25 miles north of Cambridge England in an area known as the fens, its a semi rural area, Grid: JO02cn30TX on the border of Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. WAB Sq TL 49163 what3words ruffle.acting.cherished

My interest in radio started when I was very young, when I was around 7 or 8 (1975-1976), I was given an old broken radio by an elderly neighbour, it was a big 1930's era Polish Graetzor Aeropilot, mains powered and more by luck than judgement and without killing myself I got it working, I would listen for hours to stations from all over Europe on that radio. From there I started hunting for distant radio stations. I modified the radio to connect to headphones, so I could listen late at night when the far-off stations faded in and out, and that was me hooked. After many years of being a swl and working cb dx with radios like the Ham international Jumbo, along came other distractions like girls and cars, (both fun but expensive hobbies).
I finally took the amateur radio exams, I was first licenced as M3MVB in 2006 then in 2008 upgraded to Intermediate 2E0MVB and Full/Advanced M0MVB in 2010.

I enjoy FT-8, FT-4, and CW, casually working contests and chasing DX.

I QSL 100% via LOTW and eQSL. If you want/need a card, just ask I'm happy to send one, as you may be able to tell by my qsl card I do like the band Pink Floyd, my card design is based on their album cover of The Wall..

I am Active on all Bands HF/VHF/UHF

My current shack radios are Icom IC-7300 Kenwood TS-2000 and a Yaesu FT 817 5 watts qrp rig top band to 70 Cm's, with a Wonder Wand for when out and about.

Antennas are a V2000 6/2/70 vertical, G5RV 80 to 10 Mts, various dipoles, a long wire via a MFJ atu, before moving qth I was lucky enough to have a Hy-gain LP1010 Log Periodic 8-30MHz (7MHz with a tuner) Alas no longer.

I really enjoy the digimodes mainly FT4 & 8 but also Bpsk, RTTY and JT modes on 160/80/40/30/20/17/15 Mts 60 meters being my favourite band, trying my hand at MS on 2, I also like a good rag chew when conditions permit,

Please use LoTW or e-qsl.cc where possible or direct to my listed address if you send me a card I will send you one back 100% at no charge none of this wont send without irc's, if i receive 1 ill send you 1 back and I ask the same in return.

My card design was born from my liking the rock band Pink Floyd and inspired by their album cover for The Wall.

Best 73's to you and hope to work de Steve M0MVB http://www.m0mvb.co.uk
