Biography
Hi All
PLEASE NOTE - If on C4FM - my home hotspot is on 434.025 as you will need to adjust your contact frequence.
As it says above my name is Les and I have been a Ham for about 18 plus years now.
I got the radio bug when I was 14 years old as a member of the Air Cadets and by the age of 15, I was running the squadrons radio room.
Like a lot of ham radios, I had a had full of CB radios, but I found my self working across the world both as an entertainer and also in my day job as a site engineer, so found I had little free time.
When I returned to this country after quite a few years, I joined the ATC as a CI and was asked to go as a radio officer at a squadron. So this then opened the door to me and radio.
I thought I would not only study the Radio of the ATC but also go all the way and look at Ham radio.
I started to use my own radio shack to any great effect, as for the past 10 years I have spent most of my free time helping to put in place a new training system for Comms in the Greater Manchester Wing.
Now I have stepped back, I am now finding a new part of my life, this helps me now as due to rounds of bad health I spend a lot of time indoors.
To date I am now at Greater Manchester Wing, Royal Air Force Air Cadets Training Centre, Comms Training Officer.
I am now also at Stockport Sea Cadet Training Centre, as the local Comms Radio Officer also.
Since June 2020, I have now done over 1000 Invigilation's of exam for the RSGB.
