Biography

Thank you for visiting my page, my name is Will.

My current radio room has a Yaesu FTdx10 for HF/VHF communications. I use a Butternut HF9V vertical for transmitting and a Wellbrook ALA100n medium size loop on a garden fence panel for reception.I like portable operation and I use homebrew wire antennas; a 40-10 EFHW and a Random wire with a 9:1 UNUN. I enjoy portable operation as it really tests you skills

I have a IC-R8600 with a Wellbrook ALA1530ln that I use for Shortwave lisenting. I have been a shortwave listener for years and I still get a buzz from hearing far away stations.

I am a member of the CDXC, BDXC, RSGB abd the Coventry Amateur Radio Society (CARS. I live in Stratford upon Avon, which is known for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare.

I firmly believe amateur radio is one of the good and decent things in an increasingly angry and frustrated world. With it we can set an example of international friendship, where we can help and support each other.

A special thank you goes to everyone who has helped me setup my station and shared their lessons and wisdom; especially N3IL and M0HOU.

I'm a novice CW operator currently trying to improve my morse code copying skills and learning how to use a paddle, which is a lot of fun.

I hope to meet you on the air soon!
