Biography

Retired Electronics Engineer.

Call sign history:

Passed RAE in December 1979 and became G8VST.

Passed 12wpm Morse test in January 1998 and became M0BOL.

Was MW0BOL from December 2002 to November 2007 while living in Newport, South Wales.
Most of my career in electronics was the building, programming and maintenance of automatic test systems for electronic production lines in the factory of a pro audio equipment manufacturer. I have also worked in the TV and radio manufacturing industry and in fire alarm manufacturing. Very early on, I worked in the electrical trade carrying out both domestic and industrial wiring.

Retired from electronics in 2003 and worked in retail for a few years until I became a full time professional loafer in 2016.

Currently operational with a very modest system on most HF bands and 6M SSB/CW and 2M/70cm FM, however, I'm a dyed in the wool SWL and spend most of my time these days listening to far off broadcast stations, something I have enjoyed since I was about 12 years old!

Have done a fair bit of home brewing over the years, everything from QRP rigs to big linear amplifiers and test equipment etc, but these days I no longer have the room or the inclination, all the test equipment is now stowed in the loft! Indeed, the eyes aren't what they used to be and the onset of arthritis in the joints doesn't help!

I am married (second time) and have a young son who demands much of my time and attention anyway!

Member of the ISWL G-16079

Please note that I can no longer QSL via the RSGB as I have resigned from the society.
