Biography

Hi, thanks for looking me up on QRZ.com. My name is Plamen, I was born /1959/ and grew up in a small town in Northeastern Bulgaria, where I graduated from high school. As a kid, I got hooked on the radio. There were no computers, no mobile phones, but there was Deep Purple, the Beatles - golden times. Then there was a club station in the city - lz2kpb and from the age of 15 I spent my free time there. At the age of 18, I joined the mandatory military service and was a radio telegraph operator for 2 years. After I was released from military service, I began to study medicine at Medical University of Sofia for six years and stopped the hobby. Later, my work as a doctor required a lot of time. I returned to the radio in 1989. Then I moved to Sofia and until now I work as an obstetrician-gynecologist in a hospital. I got a license and since then I work with the initials lz3ty. In the big city it's getting harder to work on shortwave, QRM is high and I had a problem with antennas and neighbors. 5 years ago I bought land 25 kilometers west of Sofia, a very quiet place at 580 meters above sea level. I built a small house and a special room for the radio. My wife and I spend most of our time here. The nature is wonderful, there are two dams, you can fish for trout. I also do a bit of enduro cycling around the area. For now I am working with two wire antennas for 3.5 and 7 MHZ - an inverted vee at 17 meters high and a multi-band vertical from CUSHCRAFT-R8 and HEXBEAM by MW0JZE for the rest of the shortwave frequencies. I am designing an antenna tower and a Yaagi in the near future. Amplifier is ACOM 2000a and HOMEMADE amplifier 1500W+6m.Inscriptions on the box of amp was made with UV print and laser engraving. I have Yaesu FTDX101MP,microphon Yaesu M-1, FT857D etc. When I'm in Sofia or on vacation, I work remotely with SCU Lan10 and I'm very satisfied.
I hope to enjoy hobby radio for a long time.
