Biography

I was raised in a family of Amateur Radio operators and in the early 1980s received my first license callsign KA5KKO. In those days I enjoyed working CW DX and receiving QSL cards from foreign countries. Enjoing challenges I increased the speed of Morse Code to around 25 WPM and studied theory to pass the Technician, General and Advanced exams. Upon passing the Extra class exam I chose to receive a shortened callsign, KY5K. The hobble eventually led to a degree in Electrical Engineering and employment in the electric power industry among other companies. Marriage and family resulted in putting a hold on the hobby. But after decades I have finally returned mostly going mobile with a Yaesu FT-891 and a Kenwood TH-F6. Having returned to the hobby I have enjoyed adapting to the computer integration. I hope to connect with you on air soon! 73's from David
