Biography

Obtained Novice ticket in May, 1977 and worked the world on 40 & 15 meters. Finished WAS & WAC by end of June that year. Upgraded to Advanced class in September 1977. Passed the Extra class in January 1980 and received this call on March 8th 1980. Since the KV prefix was for Virgin Islands, had a ball on Radiosport contest. Main interests in ham radio is chasing the occasional DX stations, ragchewing with friends on 75 meters and now that I have WAS 6 bands, working on same on 6 meters. I have run the course of modes in the hobby, from CW, SSB, PSK31, JT65HF, RTTY and ATV. I love to garden and grow some pretty interesting veggies, as my XYL is Korean. I have a 1950 Ford 8N tractor I use to till the soil. Fishing has taken a back seat to all this other stuff but I am enjoying being retired (72) and make no daily plans, Live for the moment! LOL 73 and thanks for visiting my QRZCQ page!

Equipment

Den station: Icom IC-746 PRO, Swan Mk II amp, Mosley CL36 tribander and the usual wire dipoles for HF, 5 el yagi for 6M and 11 el for 2M Bedroom (!) station consists of Yaesu FT-950, Ten Tec Hercules II amp & PS. I switch the feed for Mosley beam to which station I am working on at the time. What a great invention is the DX clusters! No more one ringers and 2 meter DX nets....just point and click!
