| Biography Formerly WA1BZS and active since June 1964 (16 years old).
QRV on 160 thru 70cm. Currently hanging around the MUF chasing long haul DX and on 6 when double hop Es or F2 propagation shows up.
HF Grey Line/long path and VHF Aurora contacts give me the biggest thrill. CW has always been my favorite mode but only takes up about 35% of the log now that FT-8 has pretty much emptied out the cw bands unless conditions are really good. I much prefer
QSO's with REAL HUMANS but hunting for super rare stuff on FT-8 has been fun.
Oscar 10 & 13 mode B world wide satellite communication and the great folks I met up there was by far, the most fun and best learning experience for me. Now that was ham radio! I really miss those days.
Currently a member of the Meriden (CT) ARC, ARRL, and Eastern CT ARA.
On HF/6 a Kenwood TS-890S and Acom 1500 amp feed a 7 element Mosley Pro57-B yagi at 70 feet and on 6, a 3 element M2 yagi at 46'. My old (still working great) TS-940S serves as hf backup.
On 160/80 a full coverage Fan/Inverted Vee dipole at 68' and separate dipoles for 30 & 40 round out most of the current antenna farm.
A pair of Kenwood TS-480SAT's are used for POTA, vacations and 2nd station in the bedroom.
On 2/70cm an Icom IC-9700 and mast mounted Landwehr LNA's feed a 13 element Cushcraft yagi at 40' and 70cm 20 element yagi at 43'.
222 mhz sports an ancient KDK FM-4033 into a 120w Mirage amp and Landwehr LNA that feed an AEA Isopole.
Current mixed DXCC is 322 countries.
