Biography

I live in Kissimmee, fl. I'm new to Ham radio. Passed the Technician in Oct 2023. Dec 2, 2023 passed the General test. My Group is LWRA in LAKE WALES Fl. and Amateurs Radio Repeater Geezers United Society group in Kissimmee, Fl. Got into Ham because of recent Hurricanes that hit FL. Lost power and no means of comms because cell phone went dead with know battery backup. Internet was down too. I've been an active shortwave listener using SDR play and 2 noelec sdrs. I still listen to the Ham bands on my SDR play. Mostly use my Noelecs to listen to public safety in Osceola County. I have a QYT KT-8900 Mobile radio, Icom ID-51 Plus 2,Baofeng UV 5R, Explorer QRZ 1 HTS. I use my QYT radio as a base. I'm using a Delta 514 10 amp to 14 amp power supply for the QYT radio. My Antenna is a K9NTAX Slim Jim J-POLE. I can transmit as far as 30 miles when propagation is good. I currently don't have a HF rig yet. I am a member of the LAKE WALES REPEATER ASSOCIATION TOO. Their website is www.lwra.us. The LWRA has Net Control meeting's every Tuesday night on frequency 442.425 MHz UHF+ 5Mhz PL tone 127.3 repeater. The other K4LKW REPEATER is VHF REPEATER – 147.330 MHZ – PL. 127.3 Hz +600 Khz.  I also go to Net meetings held in Kissimmee, fl. with the Amateurs Radio Repeater Geezers United Society group. They are part of the ARRG.US ARRAY Using the XLXREFLECTOR.ORG. I have the Doozy app for the Icom 51 Plus 2 and Peanut App for the use of the Reflectors on my phone and on my PC. I also have a Comet Dual band UHF/VHF Antenna for my car.
