Biography

Hello to all and thank you for stopping by. My first name is Harvey but I've always gone by my middle name, Wayne. I grew up listening to amateur radio but somehow life got in the way of becoming licensed. It only took 66 years to get there as I'm a short-timer, having only been a ham since March of 2021 when I passed the Technician test. It took me a year to figure out I wanted more and finally upgraded to Amateur Extra.

Worked DXCCs:

Equipment

My HF setup is an Icom 7610 running barefoot out to a Buckmaster OCF Dipole approximately 25' high. Backup is an Icom 7300. Mostly running SSB voice but branching out running FT8 via WSJTX and experimenting with Winlink email and data modes.

VHF/UHF setup consist of an Icom 9700 and a Diamond Tri-Band approximately 18' off the ground. Working mostly local repeaters but getting to play with digital voice via simplex and terminal mode. Running Icom SM-30 desk mics for both setups.

A new AnyTone HT is opening the door into the DMR world and just getting started but enjoying writing codeplugs for the different areas as we travel.

Living in an HOA doesn't allow for a lot of antennas so feel lucky to do as well as I do and having lots of fun. 73 to all!
