Biography

I have Founded a New Amateur Radio Technical Team and We are Hosting a Different Kind Of Net On Friday Nights at 8:00pm, On Zoom & Youtube. You may find it refreshing! www.SWFLTech.Net

Since starting in Amateur Radio I have fallen in love with the Technology and Science of Radios and Antennas and I also have found a love for Nets. I find our Local and Regional Nets to be informative but they leave me wanting more, and Local Clubs are not very active in education or activities. In fact most local clubs don't treat new hams very well at all. There is little to no ongoing help and instruction for Newly Licensed Hams. All dicisions, elections, positions, and operations are made and run by the Elders and they have little use for new folks, especally if you are under 60!! We needed a better way....

So... I came up with a New Concept! This concept encompasses all the good things about Amateur Radio Clubs and Local Radio Nets without all the clubs within clubs, backroom deals, and corrupt croneisum. This is a warm inviting place for New and Established Ham Radio Operators to come and truely have a say in what you do within the hobby. This New Concept involves a very different format, Membership is Free, we are just looking for Local, Regional or International Folks that want to be a part of a great thing!

The Southwest Florida Tech Team has the following main goals.

> Work with New Hams and help them get going in the hobby
> Run a Technical Net on Zoom where folks from all over the world can come and share ideas
> Participate in Local Events, Contests, and Public Service Outings
> Promote the Hobby to New Potential Hams
> Give each Member a Vote on EVERYTHING We Do! (Do you get that with your club?)
and.. We will NOT be the Club of Old Farts that resist change at all costs, take forever to make a decision and even longer to act on it, nor the Club that hates newbies and their new ideas!
We want to be active, involved, and engaged!
Our Zoom Nets are held every Friday Night at 8pm on the Zoom Platform and they are simulcast on Youtube. You can watch Previous Nets HERE. You can join as early as 7:30 for the Rag Chew.

Each week will feature a Main Topic, Amateur Radio News and Information, and we will always take topics from the Participants to see if we can help!

The other thing that makes our Zoom net different is we will be here until the end. No Rushing, No Deadlines, no 2 round limit. This is a Long Form Casual Net with lots of Direct Discussion and lots of good information available for everyone to take away. Once everyone is tuckered out, we will end. Our Zoom Sessions generally last for 2 to 3 hours. I want to make sure that people never feel rushed or that the point they have is not important enough because we are out of time. I want this net to be as long as it needs to be and never rushed.

The Club and Net's Websites have Helpful Resources, a Lightning Tracker, a Space Weather Tracker, Show Archive, Ham Radio News and Information, and a list of all our local nets and clubs and a lot more. www.SWFLTech.Net
