Biography
I operate from EM88 and FM09ap at the W8CUL Shack of West Virginia University's campus.
After years of wanting to get licensed, I passed my Technician test in March of 2017, upgraded to general in October of 2017 and finally Extra in February 2018. My other hobby high power rocketry combined with my university radio club finally gave me the push to get my license. I also hold a GMRS license under the call of WQWA393.
I’ve been interested in radios since I was a kid, using FRS radios and ultimately CB for a little while. My interests now revolve round my emergency communications, HF/VHF/UHF comms, APRS, and radio direction finding.
I’m currently a Volunteer Examiner with the ARRL & Laurel VECs and a registered instructor with the ARRL. I am also a storm spotter with Skywarn/NWS.
I split my time between my home in Blaine, KY and Morgantown, WV where I attend West Virginia University.
I'm also on QRZ & HamQTH.
