Biography

After all the years of having a hobby of SWLing, CB radio and refurbing vintage audio and radio equipment I finally decided to get my amateur license. CB was a lot of fun in the mid to late 70's but the early 80's on the old gang started getting married and dropping the radio hobby. Fewer new people were on CB that were worth talking to. After having enough of politics in southeastern Louisiana I moved to southern California and met a few gents on CB SSB. They moved on to ham radio and bugged the living daylights out of me to get my license. Getting married and moving into a house I wanted to communicate with the outside world again using a transceiver. Still a vintage electronics nut and working in I T I figured let's merge hobby one and two. New technology is OK but the old stuff is easier to work on. Anyway it is all fun!

Weekdays during work and after work I normally monitor 7293 KHZ AM [I work from home] after work I may be monitoring 60 meters 5371.5 KHZ or doing JS8 mode on 20 or 40 meters. On 7293 KHZ AM I am using the Yaesu Coffin Twins FRDX400 and FLDX400 or a Swan 600T with a JRC NRD525 or a Hammarlund SP600. I love the sound of AM!
