Biography

I was interested in Amateur Radios back in the 70's but never did anything with it. Now that I have four grown kids and a teenage granddaughter, I finally decided to get a radio and license in 2014. I have already acquired a few radios, then sold a couple of them. I currently use a Yaesu FTDX 5000, an ICOM 756ProIII and a Kenwood TS-590SG as my main rigs. I use a Heil Pro 7 Headset with my FTDX 5000, HEIL ICM microphone on my 756ProIII and a HEIL PR-781 microphone and boom on my TS-590SG. My Yaesu FT-857D doubles as my VHF/UHF radio and portable rig. My mobile rig is my Kenwood TS-480SAT with the Tarheel Model 100A-HP antenna and a Yaesu FT-7900R with a Comet CSB790A 2m/70cm antenna.

I have an SDRplay software defined radio connected to computer so I can use a panadaptor with my radios. I use HDSDR for my panadaptor which integrates well with Ham Radio Deluxe v6.3.0.585 for my logging software.

All of this is being used on my 3 element SteppIR that has the 30, 40 meter trombone loop.

When I'm not working or on the radio, I like to to relax and just spend some quality time with my wife Janice and our dogs Harley & Abby. I also collect CW Bugs, Keys & Paddles. Check out my QRZ page or Facebook Group with the name "CW Bugs, Keys & Paddles" if you would like to see them.

73s,

Mark (KM4AHP)
