Biography

Hello my name is Tony Jones. I'm originally from (Christmas Town USA) McAdenville, North Carolina. When I was in the first or second grade we moved from McAdenville to Mt. Holly, NC and I still live there today. My interest in radios began when I was 14 years old and over the years I had collected old tube and transistor type radios. I have friends that are amateur radio operators that had been trying for many years to get me to take the technician test. I finally took the technician test at the Shelby Hamfest in Shelby, North Carolina on Saturday August 31, 2013 and passed it. I passed the General test on Thursday March 13, 2014 at a Carolina Amateur Radio Club meeting in Iron Station, North Carolina. Then I passed the Extra on Saturday February 7, 2015 at a WCARS VE Session at St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since obtaining my amateur license I have really began to enjoy the 2, 10, 12 and 15 meter bands. My professional organizations that I belong to and my qualifications are,
I'm a ARRL VE Liaison and a ARRL Emergency Communication Field Examiner. I'm an WCARS member and a WCARS VE team leader. I'm also an QRZ subscriber member.

Equipment

My amateur radios consist of one Icom IC-737 HF Transceiver that covers the 10 - 160 meter bands that I have an Astatic T-UP9 Stand Microphone on. I have an Solarcon IMAX 2000 antenna and two dipole antenna's that I use on my Icom IC-737, with the antenna's I have I can go on the 10 meter, 12 meter, 15 meter, 17 meter, 20 meter, 40 meter and 80 meter bands. For my 2 meter radio's I have an Icom IC-208H and an Icom IC-207H VHF/UHF FM Transceiver. Then for HT I have two Baeofeng FM Transceiver's.
