Biography

Received General License February 2013...upgraded to Extra in June.

Began my rookie entry into amateur radio at suggestion of my younger brother and "Elmer of the Year" Robert (WA7RQP)who has built his own radios and antennas and worked the world since the early 70's.

I remember watching him "tap-tap" on his key when I would come home to visit the family on our farm in Oregon every year when I was in the Air Force.

I can now truly appreciate what a unique experience that he had at that time working operators at the farthest reaches of the world with only low power rigs. I am in awe of him and all the amateur radio ops of those days because it makes it difficult to appreciate the tech innovations that have enabled new operators to make contacts that were nearly impossible "back in the day"

I still look forward to making many DX's from my modest station and meeting new friends around the world !

During my short time on the air I have quickly learned and appreciate the DX Conduct Code "professionals" like Vladi Bykov demonstrate. I hope adherence to that conduct spreads across the bands ...73 TomT

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
