Biography

Hi,

My name is Eddie. I am located in Western North Carolina, about 15 miles north of Asheville, NC. I have been a ham since 1994. When I first got my ticket, my purpose was for 2 meter only. My wife also got her ticket in 1994, KE4IVX. I was into backpacking and we used our walkies for communication to and from whatever trail I was on. When the DX bug bit, I upgraded from General to Extra and bought an HF rig (ICOM-701). I sold the ICOM and got out of the hobby for a couple of years to pursue another hobby, amateur astronomy. Later on I purchased a Yaesu FT-890at, then a FT-450D. I was using a G5RV at 40 ft and a homebrew 15m 3 el Yagi. I played around with digital modes for a while and had a blast with it. I also purchased and built a Rockmite 20m QRP rig. Now I have a Softrock rxtx ensemble. My CW skills are minimal, so if we have a CW QSO it will be slow and short, at least until I get a little better at it. I really enjoy building antennas and chasing DX.

8 years later...

So, after another few years out of the hobby, I have now purchased a Icom 756 Pro iii. I am having a blast with FT-8, and dabbling into satellites.

When I'm not on the air, I enjoy hunting and fishing and amateur astronomy and astrophotography.

73's and hope to catch you on the air or the waterfall.

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
