Biography

14 months till retirement (as of 12/12/2017). Have always wanted to get my Ham Radio license since I was a kid and watched and heard my cousin W7ZQR talking to friends and people all over the world. Can still remember hearing "This is W7ZQR, W7 Zebra Queen Roses transmitting from the City of Roses." I was about 10 years old. Finally got my license 54 years later. Started with my Technician's license and figured that was all I would need was 2m and 70cm working repeaters, Echolink, IRLP and the like. I joined the radio club where I took my test that same day. A very generous long time Ham kind of took me under his wing and got me into the HF world. Got my General two months after my Technician. Did what my mentor "Elmer" suggested "Put wire in the air, put RF to it and see what happens." Needless to say I found another retirement hobby.
