Biography

I got my first call sign, N0YBC, after getting out of the U.S. Air Force when I was still living in Omaha, NE. I went to tech school to be an Electronic Warfare Systems Technician and got posted to Offutt A.F.B. to be an RC-135 Avionics Technician. I worked on the "guts" of the RC-135 for five long, cold winters. I miss my friends from the Air Force, but not those Nebraska winters. After getting out of the service, I went to Mississippi State University (class of 1997), where I majored in Meteorology. The 0-call was handy while storm spotting/chasing there. After almost 24 years licensed, 4 of them as an Amateur Extra, I got my new call sign of KA3X on February 7th of 2017.

I work SSB, BPSK31, JT65A, Olivia, SSTV, and Hellschreiber. I enjoy ragchews in both voice and digital modes. I may only be running barefoot at 100 watts max, but I think that's enough power right now. Since Winlog32 will automatically upload QSOs to eQSL I use that a lot. eQSL cards are there often before the QSO ends. I also LotW nightly, but it's not my favorite since I like getting and collecting QSL cards. And there is always mailed cards, direct or bureau. I don't need an SASE if you send me a card, I'll pick up the stamp.
