Biography

First got into Ham Radio because my dad and his friends were my 'Elmers'. I took the exam for Tech Plus in 1992. One more way to connect with my dad and his hobby. My two older brothers got their Tech License just after me. I later sat for my General Certification. Later, I passed my Extra Class. Have enjoyed what limited radio time I am able to do. I started in Fire & EMS in 1972. Through 20 years I served every rank but Lieutenant. Became an instructor in Firefighting, Paramedics & assisted SCUBA as a dive master for the Hampton VA Fire & Police Dive team. I still teach several subjects for the American Hearth Association, BLS since 1973 & ACLS since 1985. Retired as a Registered Nurse after 43 years in Critical Care in education, trauma, Cardiac special procedures and my favorite PACU.

07/26/2022 Dx with NASH Liver disease. That night I was ammonia toxic and almost died that night. Medically retired. In need of a Blood Type O Liver donor. I am registered through VCU/MCV Hospital in Richmond Virginia Liver Transplant Program.
07/13/2024 I got the call. I had a liver transplant. Was a rough recovery at first. A second surgery due to infection I got in the first surgery.
0717/2026. I am doing very well. My wife & I joined the YMCA gym. I do my exercising there. Summer, it get too hot for me to walk my neighborhood. I cannot tolerate the heat like I use to. I get Heat Exhaustion easily now with no warning.
I just got into DMR radio. I'm tired of competing with 1500 watts when I have just 100 watts. The season and sun just isn't cooperating.
