Biography

First licensed in 1976 as WB9YSP. Started out with a DX60B and SX111 followed by a set of Kenwood twins. Ran a 2 el Gem Quad and then later 4 el mono banders at 50/60 feet for 10 and 15 meters as a novice. Yes it did kick ass but had to be replaced with a 6 el tribander when I upgraded. Might as well have been an omni directional antenna. F/B ratio was horrible.
Later on I ran a TS940SAT to either a Clipperton L or 4-1000 amp. Antenna was a KT34A at 55ft and a rotatable dipole on 40 at 63ft.

Left the hobby to persue RC aircraft with my son about 10 years ago. He is now an airline pilot and I'm getting back into amateur radio.

4.8.14 Been a busy year with HAM radio and working on the house we bought 1 1/2 years ago. Still working on antennas but have had good luck so far with my inverted L. Worked a clean sweep during 2013 CW SS QRP and worked K9W and FT5ZM. K9W was with the KX3. Rigs are now an Elecraft K3 and a KX3. Looking for an amp now.
Having fun working the pile ups and some contests. I can usually be found on the 0300 CWOps CWTs each Wed/Thur.

Equipment

Remotehams.com, SDR-Radio, Softrock Ensemble RXTX. Just started putting new shack together at new to us QTH. Considering a KX3 unless someone can convince me otherwise. I need a radio to be able to take with me out of town. Looking at a Flex 6700 or an Elecraft K3 for the shack. Waiting for a few others to be the FLEX 6700 guinea pigs before deciding.

Update 4.8.14 K3 and KX3. Dual monitors on computer 1 and a 32 " monitor on 2nd computer.
