Biography

Hello, and welcome.

My name is Herbert, KC3UUK, and I live in the Boro of West Mifflin, in Southwestern Pennsylvania, in the USA.

Latitude: 40.366453, N.

Longitude: -79.928677, W.

Grid: FN00ai.

I received my Amuture Radio Technician Class License in 2022, and now I am slowly studying for my General Class License. I am somewhat new to the world of "Amuture Radio," but not entirely new to radio communications and operations. I was a long time 11 meter/CB user (KBCP5431) working with that system from the early 1970's through the late 1990's. I have used the GMRS frequencies in the States as a licensed operator (WPVR996) since 2002 as well, and have been monitoring the Shortwave/HF bands since around the late 1960's.

I am now retired from a long career in Public Safety, and have a strong background in those areas of communications as well. I have been trained in Emergency Communications (EMCOMM), Incident Command Systems (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), SkyWarn, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), APCO protocols, etc..

At this time I have a modest HAM Shack setup. I am usually on monitoring the 2 meter, 1.25 meter and 70 centimeter bands/local repeaters, and do some DMR, DMR ID: 3210198. I also utilize Echolink, Echolink Node: 953929, and ZELLO Network Radio, where I can be found monitoring the International Radio Network channels, call sign: IRN5306 and Network Radio channels, call sign: NR632.

I also do communications on the 10 meter band. I like working QRP and QRPP, and I do have all band monitoring capabilities. I do enjoy listening to the DXers on the other HF bands as well from around the world.

I am a member of the ARRL, and have studied many of their courses, webinars and manuals for Amuture Radio. I am also a member of the Two Rivers Amateur Radio Club, and the Wireless Association of South Hills in Pennsylvania. Member of the World Radio League.

I am also listed on HamCall.net and QRZ.

Thanks for visiting my page.

DX Code Of Conduct

dx code of conduct small logoI support the "DX Code Of Conduct" to help to work with each other and not each against the others on the bands.
