Biography

I'm a new HAM. I received my technician license 11/29/2018 and passed the general exam 2/7/2019. I was primarilly interested in learning to use radios beause I am the kind of guy that will get lost in the woods 100 yards from the main road, but it's turned into a full blown hobby.

I live in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. I like to spend time in rural Missouri when I can, bowfishing, hunting and shooting.

I'm operating on a budget, and moving in the next few months so I am pretty portable for now.

I'm dabbling with digital modes, mostly ft8.

I'm learning CW very slowwwwwwly.

I'm trying to work the satelites, but that's harder than it looks.

73.

Equipment

My VHF/UHF stuff consists of a couple of Baofeng handhelds and a couple of QYT mobile radios.

I also use a TYT MD380 to get on the local DMR-MARC repeater and the Brandmeister network via a Raspberry Pi MMDVM hotspot.

For HF I am on a Yaesu FT-891 running a wire on a matchbox. I'm hoping to improve my antenna situation after I move. I'm slowly getting it figured out.
