Biography

QSL mailed with SASE (self addressed and stamped envelope).

I'm a relatively new amateur radio operator, having passed my Technician and General exams on 01/24/2018 and Extra exam on 09/09/2018, however I have been “playing” with radio for decades since I was a teenager.

Like many Amateur Radio Operators I've spoken with, I began with radio as a hobby as an 11 meter CB’er (KDB7769).

As a teenager I was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Air Explorer Scouts. That fostered my love of Aviation and Radio.

In 1966 I Joined the Navy and became a radioman on the USS Saratoga (CVA-60) aircraft carrier.

I was hooked on radio, even though at that time the reason was a little sketchy.

In 1971 I married the love of my life, my wife Patricia (Pat). We raised 3 children and now have 5 grandchildren.

I retired from AT&T in 2003. My wife and I enjoy spending time with the Grands and traveling.

In December 2017 I got the Radio bug after watching an episode of "Last Man Standing" and decided to get my amateur radio license.

I enjoy talking on 2 meters and DMR with local friends and chasing DX on HF (Phone and FT8).

73 and I hope to chat with you on the bands!
