Biography

80 years of age, retired Journeyman Industrial Electrician and over the road Semi-truck driver.

In January, 2021, the YL and I moved into the new home we had built. A lot of things needed completed before the antenna(s) were erected. I first managed to get an Inverted V antenna for 20 meters. It is hanging off of the J-pole mast along the side of the house. Finally managed to get an 80-10 EFHW up in a horizontal, straight line configuration at about 35 feet height. It follows the fence line on the east side of the property.

I recently fabricated a Super J-Pole out of 3/4" aluminum tubing for 2M. Work a lot of 52 simplex with a great gang of guys in the area. I was asked by a local ham to upload some pictures of my 2M antenna. As of 5/16/2021, the Super J-Pole is up at about 30 feet to the bottom of the antenna, and operational at the new QTH.

I usually spend most of my HF time on 20 M during the day, occasionally pulling net control duties on The Intercontinental Amateur Traffic Net [Intercon] on 14.300MHz . To aid in this endeavor, I just added the AL-811H to the mix. Evenings, I will drop down to 40M and 80M, depending on band conditions.
