Biography

Licensed since 1986. Former calls KA8ZNN, N4PUV (Virginia), N4SEA (VA & WV) Primary interests chasing DX and contesting. Member of West Virginia DX Association (WVDXA).

Started out my interest in radio communications in the late 1950's with Broadcast Band DXing (still do occasionally) and later SWLing. Very active in CB From 1964 to 1981. I do phone only right now on 160 meters through 10 meters. If you ever do hear me on CW please be patient. Haven't used it since 1987. Thinking about PSK-31.

Equipment

Primary Rig is ICOM 746 Pro with Heil Goldline Mike. Secondary Rig is an ICOM 718 with the same Mike and a back up rig is the original ICOM 756 that would also use the Heil Goldline. I started out with the ICOM 720A and won mnay a Virgina Section Contests with it as well as working 256 countries on 10 meters from Hampton, VA.
(Do you see a rig pattern there?). The Amplifier is an AL-1500.

My antennas are a 6 element Log Periodic at 40 feet for 10 through 20 meters and it loads very nicely on 40 meters as well.F or low bands I use a full sized Carolina Windom primarily oriented north and south. I also have a very negelcted ground mounted HF6B vertical which I plan on working with this summer. I have 2 home made 60 meter dipoles in an X configuration. You may here me on 6 meters if I take a mind to give it a try with my home made vertical and no amp.

For mobile use I have 2 an ICOM 207 in my truck for local repeater use and simplex communications with a co-worker while we travel in seperate vehicles.
