Biography

I am Sean D. Fleming I grew up in Oak Park, MI . I was first licensed
as KC8MPQ in 1999 and in 2001 I applied for vanity call K8KHZ. I am
a veteran of the US Army Signal Corps. I spent in Germany, Bosnia,
Japan (Okinawa) and Augusta, Ga. I served during the 1st Gulf War
and in Bosnia/Croatia. I was discharged honorably in 1996. I am a current member of The VFW . I have been working in the Telecommunications industry for almost 25 years. I am a member of the Telephone Pioneers. I am from an entire amateur radio family, My Mother N8FE, Father K8UP(SK), Brother is K8UP/VK4TJF. My Current station is a Kenwood TS-480SAT. I have 3 antennas. A G5RV, A-99 Vertical, and a Tri Band 3el Mosely Yagi. I am mostly a ssb operator. I am involved with several radio clubs and also the owner/founder of a 600 member amateur radio google+ Community.

Within the ARRL I am a Maxim Society Member and a VUCC & WAS Awards Checker. I am an A-1 Op and a member of the Wouff Hong. In the past I have been very involved within SEMDXA South Eastern Michigan DX association. I served as the president in 2008 and various positions before. I have belong currently to the Mad River Radio Club and the Hazel Park Radio Club where in the Past I was awarded in 2007 the Amateur Radio Operator of the year.

Recently I have been chasing DX, Working on my log book, going to conventions, checking cards for fellow hams, and rebuilding my home station.

In 2019 I hope to finish getting WAS 5 Band and add some more DX entities. One of my goals this year is to upgrade to Extra before 2019 ARRL Sweepstakes.
